During a White House press conference, President Donald Trump had to abruptly end his speech due to an unexpected medical situation.

At that moment, Trump was formally swearing in television personality Dr. Mehmet Oz, who had been appointed as the new administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) during Trump’s administration.

According to a report from the Irish Star, the event was interrupted when a young girl collapsed, prompting White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt to swiftly call off the briefing and request that the media leave the room.

“Press out,” Leavitt urgently instructed, her voice cutting through the gathering.

The sudden emergency left President Trump no choice but to step away from the podium. Aware that something serious was unfolding, he immediately stopped speaking and moved to offer assistance. “I hope she’s alright,” he was overheard saying with concern.

Simultaneously, Dr. Oz rushed off-camera to render aid to the collapsed individual.

Footage captured during the incident showed the young girl being quickly escorted out of the room by staff members, ensuring she received immediate attention.

Later, the White House released a statement confirming that a “minor family member” had fainted during the ceremony, and fortunately, they were now in good health. The official announcement stated, “A minor family member fainted during Dr. Oz’s swearing-in ceremony in the Oval Office. We are pleased to report that she is doing well.”

Prior to the unexpected turn of events, Trump had introduced Dr. Oz with high praise, describing him as “one of the nation’s most skilled and cherished medical professionals.”

Highlighting Dr. Oz’s impressive academic background, Trump noted that Oz graduated from Harvard University, later earning a Doctor of Medicine degree and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine and the prestigious Wharton School.

Following his education, Dr. Oz built a notable career as a heart surgeon and served as a professor of cardiac surgery at Columbia University. He also directed the Cardiovascular Institute and the integrative medicine program at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

In addition to his medical career, Dr. Oz launched The Dr. Oz Show in 2009, a health and wellness talk program that ran successfully until it concluded in 2022.

However, throughout its broadcast years, the show faced criticism, with Dr. Oz occasionally sparking controversy over some of the medical advice he shared. For instance, the Federal Trade Commission denounced his claim that green coffee extract was a “miracle weight loss solution,” leading to widespread scrutiny.

Despite the controversies, Dr. Oz’s appointment to lead CMS was officially approved earlier this month by a Senate vote of 53 to 45, underscoring significant, though not unanimous, support.
