If you’ve been online this week, one of the most surprising rumors you might have come across is the claim that Jennifer Aniston was romantically involved with Barack Obama.

No, this isn’t something we’re fabricating. Yes, multiple sources have speculated on it over the past several days.

In fact, this rather peculiar and scandalous piece of gossip has gained such momentum that people are now revisiting an older interview where Jennifer Aniston herself addressed the topic.

The alleged connection between the Friends actress and the former U.S. president appears to have surfaced due to ongoing conspiracy theories surrounding Barack and Michelle Obama's marriage. Keep reading to find out why.

According to reports—sensational ones, perhaps, but reports nonetheless—concerns about the strength of the Obamas' relationship first arose when Michelle was noticeably absent from two major events: Jimmy Carter’s funeral (which was held on January 9, 2025) and Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration last Monday, January 20.

At this juncture, we want to make it clear that any supposed evidence linking Aniston and Obama in some kind of improbable romance is… well, exactly that—highly improbable. At best.

Yes, Michelle’s absence from these significant occasions could certainly raise a few eyebrows. However, jumping to the conclusion that this suggests trouble in her marriage with Barack would be not only premature but also downright reckless.

Regardless, the speculation has inevitably led people to revisit a past interview in which Jennifer Aniston directly responded to the claim that she and Barack had been involved in a scandalous romance.

During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last October, host Jimmy Kimmel handed Aniston a gossip magazine that referenced the supposed affair.

In reaction, the actress playfully wagged her finger before expressing her frustration over false stories often circulated by the tabloids.

Aniston remarked, “Out of all the phone calls you get from your publicist, where you think, ‘Oh no, what now?’ or you receive an email saying some trashy tabloid is about to concoct a story—then it turns out to be this…”

Considering how absurd the rumor is, Aniston would have been entirely justified in showing irritation. Instead, she lightheartedly told Kimmel, “I wasn’t even mad about it,” but made sure to stress that the claim was “completely false.”

The 55-year-old actress also clarified the extent of her relationship with the Obamas, explaining, “I’ve met [Barack] once. I actually know Michelle better than him.”

As of now, it’s unclear if Aniston is currently seeing anyone. Her most recent high-profile relationship was with actor Justin Theroux, which lasted for eight years, from 2010 to 2018.

Meanwhile, Barack and Michelle Obama have been happily married since October 3, 1992. The pair share two daughters, Malia Ann (born in 1998) and Natasha (born in 2001).
